Why Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E VR is the best lens?

It is the sharpest, most closest focusing 70-200 F2.8 lens, very light compare to its competitor lenses and extremely well at Vibration Reduction (VR). There is no way this great lens will miss a shot due to shake, poor focussing or anything similar. It is widely misunderstood that this telephoto lens is made for portraits only. I have personally taken variety of photos with it and the results are always amazing.

Mechanics of Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E VR lens

Compare to its previous model, the new Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E VR lens has Electronic diaphram (E) and Fluorite Element (FL) for better and quiter performance, which is so very satisfying. After such mechanial and electronic transformation and advancement, Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E VR is not compatible with DSLRs released earlier than 2006-2007.

If you have used the previous Nikon 70-200mm VRII lens, you will notice that this newer version can focus much closer, especially at 200mm and weighs much lesser. The zoom ring feels superbly smooth with four points/buttons for AF lock which lets you lock the focus on subject. Many photographers complained about change of zoom and focus ring places but I dont see it as a problem. You just need a week or two to get used to with it.

That’s why when you look at it’s MTF charts, it looks way better than any 70-200mm F2.8 lens.

Versatility of Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E VR lens

As mentioned above, 70-200mm F2.8 lenses are widely misunderstood for the range and output. Many young photographers beleive that it was introduced for portrait photography and bokeh shots due to its wide F2.8 aperture. Its not entirely wrong to believe in that but “think, its a telephoto lens which is designed to bring subjects closer to your camera” thats why once you use this lens for variety of other photos including landscape, architecture and closeup photography, you will then see the true mastry of this lens.

The legacy of Nikon 70-20mmm F2.8

Nikon has carried on with the legacy of this great lens by introducing it for mirrorless camera series, the Nikon Z series. But the older version (Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E FL ED VR) version can be used for Nikon Zeries cameras with the help of an adapter. So if you have one, please don’t sell it as you can still use for the years to come.

ND Filters & Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E FL ED Lens

Nikon 70-200mm F2.8E FL ED VR has a filter size of 77mm. There are many ND filter brands providing same size filters and if you want my recommenmdation, go with Lee Filters 100mm Deluxe Kit. The kit comes with whole bunch of big stopper filter, polariser and adapter. Remember, putting circular filter for long time on such expensive lenses can become a pain too. They wouldnt get off easily and you wouldnt like to try it harder as you can break the front end of the lens.
